  • Thomas Stroud

    Pastor

My life in Christ began while a student at Stephen F. Austin State University.  I had grown up around church all my life, but had never come to the place of believing in God.  My struggle involved the fact that many people spoke of knowing the Lord, but few actually lived as though they did.  I challenged God to show me He was real foolishly believing He would respond as He had with Paul.  Amazingly though God did respond to my challenge by bringing into my life one person who not only believed in Christ, but chose to truly live Christ.  Then the Lord challenged me with the truth of the gospel which I could no longer deny. On March 23, 1983 I gave my life to Christ and surrendered my all to Him.

From the moment I gave my life to Jesus I have never been the same.  His word became food for my soul and His light became the passion of my life.  It was the words of Philippians 1:21 that became the measure of my life. "For me to live is Christ, and to die is gain." Life was no more about reaching this goal or obtaining some standard of life, but rather it was to live as one who loved the Lord with all my heart, strength, soul and mind and to love others as He loved them.

In April 1992 while serving in the US Army God called me to the ministry.  It has been my great joy to serve Him wherever He has led me in my life and it is my greatest joy to be His servant here at Chisholm.

  • Brian Jones

    Music Minister

Ever since I gave my life to Jesus in 1984, God has allowed me to be a part of worship ministry in many places and in many ways. In every situation, God has been faithful and taught me a little bit more, stretched me a little bit more. He's given me a glimpse of what it means to worship "in spirit and in truth," and that worship is not about the notes, or style of music, or even about music at all! Worship is about (or at least partially about) a forgiven, thankful and humble heart communing with its Savior, pouring out of itself every ounce of praise and reverence, of which He is so worthy.

If you have any questions about the music ministry, please ask.  I can be reached at brian@chisholmbaptistchurch.org.
